Feather Bed |
A feather bed will keep you warm and cozy during those cold winter nightsA feather bed is a luxury that will have you spending much longer in bed than you probably ever thought you would. Each night as you step into bed your body sinks into a lush bed of fluffy down feathers enveloping you with warmth and comfort lulling you into a deep sleep. Feather beds are becoming more and more popular all the time. If you can’t afford to buy a new mattress, and yours is uncomfortable, just throw on a feather filled bed and find yourself sleeping in comfort. There are two types of construction for feather filled beds; the baffle box construction and the baffle channel construction. With the baffle box the feathers are stuffed into fabric boxes allowing maximum loft and support. With the baffle channel the feathers are stuffed into channels allowing the feathers to loft with minimal shifting. The baffle box is the best choice as the feathers are unable to move from the top to the bottom of the bed as with the channel construction. All the feathers stay in their own little boxes and only need to be fluffed up occasionally. There are some things that you should be aware of when purchasing a feather filled bed. Look for a tightly woven high thread count cover. If you buy a cover that is under 280 thread counts, you may end up with feathers poking through while you try to sleep. As you can imagine, this can be very uncomfortable. Another thing to watch for is the fill weight. This is the weight of the down/feathers in the feather bed. Fill weight measures the quantity of the feathers and not the quality, so the higher the fill weight, the fluffier your bed will be. A feather bed is a great investment, one you will enjoy and get plenty of use out of for the duration of its life. Air it out regularly and fluff it daily to get the most out of your feather filled bed. If comfort and a good nights sleep are of utmost importance to you, then the comfort of a feather filled bed will make you feel like you’re sleeping on a cloud. |
