Cashmere blankets are a luxury that few can afford. Cashmere is one of the softest, most luxurious fibers in the world making it very expensive and out of reach for the average consumer. Cashmere is known for making a warm and durable blanket. It will serve you well for many years if you care for it properly. Like wool, cashmere is a natural fiber and is therefore attractive to the moths. So if you plan on storing your blanket of cashmere for any length of time, take the necessary precautions to keep the moths away. Your best bet is to store your cashmere throw in a cedar lined chest. If you don't have one, then you can use cedar balls or if you must, moth balls as a last resort.

When it comes time to wash your cashmere throw, it isn't just a matter of throwing it in the wash. These blankets need to be hand washed in lukewarm water using your shampoo. Once you are done washing your blanket, use a hair conditioner and thoroughly rinse out. The conditioner will help your cashmere to maintain its softness. When you are done rinsing, gently squeeze the excess water from the blanket and lay it flat to dry.
